People, not speed.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A bicyclist was critically injured when he was struck by an SUV Tuesday night on the city's north side.I know that I can generally see the cyclist's point of view and take their side in most accidents... but this rider ran a red light on one of the higher-speed roads in town. I don't think that the blame can be put on visibility at that time of night, given that sunset didn't take place for another half hour. My heart goes out to the cyclist and I hope that everyone learns a lesson from this accident - STOP AT STOP LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS!Police said the cyclist ran a red light at the corner of Sunbury Road and Cassady Avenue at about 7:30 p.m., 10TV News reported.
An SUV struck the bicyclist in the intersection. He was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
The victim's name was not immediately released.
No one inside the SUV was injured.
Police said charges were not expected to be filed against the driver.
