Did the bike have pink handlebars? Then it was me. We had one last summer, but shipped it out to our SF apartment a good while ago. We use it for everything out there. But was missing it here. (it's a tad easier here though- I even was hauling mye bf around on it) We love them! although I'll gladly sell you mine if I get that bakfietsen I've been dreaming of...
No, no pink handlebars. And it was a guy riding it. I thought it might have been Rick Logue of My 2 Mile Challenge. But I have no idea what he looks like.
That Columbus Cycling Blogger Summit is looking like a better idea all the time.
I'm still holding out for a trailer. I've never liked the way the bike handles wwith panniers, and I'm worried that this would be worse. 'Course, the trailer could be just as bad. We'll see!
From what I've heard, the extended frame makes it more stable than a regular bike with panniers is. What kind of bike are you riding that you have noticed the problem with panniers? I ride a comfort bike for commuting and I've noticed it being a bit slower, but that's it.
We carry XtraCycle at the Trek Store and had one in stock for awhile. So I had the pleasure of riding around on it a few times -- it was great for running to get pizzas for lunch! Surprisingly enough, they are really stable! If you're seriously interested in one, let me know, I can get a little info and point you in the right place to get one. :)
I don't think it was me this time. I've been out of town for a while. You may have seen me in the past because I take it when I go over to the Wine Maker's Shop.
I love my XtraCycle. I would recommend it to anyone who has enough space to store it.
The only reason I don't have an Xtra (or a Longtail like a Big Dummy) is because I often travel multimodally -- bike + bus and sometimes train for my trips. And I don't really have the storage space for a large bike in my apartment. Okay, that's two reasons :-)
this is great

I have yet to see one in the Dayton area, but I don't range over all that many roads--just to the grocery store and to work.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure lots of people have noticed me with my Burley trailer loading up an entire cart's worth of food from Kroger, though.
...but I would still like to trade the trailer for an Xtracycle.
